1.   We comprehend the meaning of phrase or sentence because we know the meaning of single word and the structure for combining their meaning.

For example:  The phrase “Black Cat” , we can understand that expression because we know the meaning of word “Black” and meaning  “Cat”.

Other phrases are:

a.       The black cat

b.      A black cat

That phrases have different meaning because the phrases have different article as structure form.

6.     Illocutionary force is the acutely aware about the purpose of utterance depend on circumstance/context. The purpose can be a warning, a promise, a threat, etc.

        Example   : Get me a hammer!

The sentence not a instruction someone for doing something but it means the order someone to get the hammer.
